INDUSTRIAL PARK – ZONING REVISIONS

October 12, 2011

The Borough of Naugatuck's Zoning Commission has approved several Zoning Regulations Revisions that were recommended by the Naugatuck Economic Development Corporation, the Naugatuck Economic Development Commission and the Borough Land Use staff that will create opportunities for new business development in the first Phase of the Naugatuck Industrial Park. The new regulations will allow current property owners to subdivide their sites to create new building lots for new business development. Property owners with 10 acre and 5 acre lots will be allowed to subdivide those lots to a minimum lot size of 2 acres. The owners then can either sell the new lot to a new owner or they can build a new building to lease or sell to a new company. The new regulations also increase the amount of building to land coverage from 30% to 40% and the limit of excavation of soil to 10,000 cubic yards before a special permit is required. These zoning revisions will take effect on November 1, 2011 and should create the opportunity for the creation of 10-15 new developable building lots in the Industrial Park.
