May 10, 2007

Seven Angels Theater of Waterbury has announced plans to expand its operations to Naugatuck to become a part of the proposed downtown revitalization project known as Renaissance Place.

The satellite facility would be located in the former Uniroyal Building #25 on Maple Street and would include a black box theater for youth productions and rehearsals, a scenery building shop, costume and sewing shop and an outdoor stage with a seating pavilion.

An agreement was signed on May 2nd between Seven Angels Theater, the Naugatuck Historical Society, Naugatuck Economic Development Corporation and Renaissance Place, L.L.C. to work together to cause the redevelopment of Building #25 in conjunction with the development of Renaissance Place.

The facility would also house the Naugatuck Historical Society museum and provide additional facilities and meeting rooms for the Borough of Naugatuck and community based organizations. The restoration of Building #25 will compliment the entertainment elements of Renaissance Place which are planned to include a cinema, recreation facilities and restaurants which would be adjacent to the Building #25.
